About the Event
Learn the ins and outs of a new build. In this 5-month course taught by John Ford and Jeff Hughes, you will learn important skills needed to manage your own new build, including project management, budgeting, necessary insurances, and many more! You will be provided a binder and handouts corresponding to each class’s topic. You'll have 10 site visits (2 per mo) at a new-build development in Durham, NC.
There will be two class groups occuring at the same time, with different start dates. If you miss a class in one group, you can "catch up" by attending the class in the other group.
This Group 4 has the following schedule:
- Jul 6 - Expenses & Invoices; Tree Removal; Slab vs. Crawl Space; Framing
- Aug 3 - Rough-Ins
- Sep 7 - Closing the Home; Inspection Process
- Oct 5 - Passing the General Contractor's Exam
John Ford is a moneylender with over 220 loans, a rehabber of over 50 homes, a new home builder of over 50 homes, a NC Licensed General Contractor, and a landlord.
Jeff Hughes has been in construction since the age of 19. He passed the NC General Contractors test in 1985 and become a licensed general contractor. He has been involved in numerous new builds and hundreds of rehab projects.
